Sony Michel Signs With Chargers

Aug 31, 2022 3:34 PM

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed Sony Michel after he was released this week by the Miami Dolphins.

Michel played for the Los Angeles Rams last season where he rushed for 540 yards between Week 13 and Week 18.

Michel signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins this offseason but was the odd man out in a crowded backfield. The Dolphins have Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert, Salvon Ahmed and Myles Gaskin on their roster at running back, as well as fullback Alec Ingold.

Raiders Plan To Release Kenyan Drake

Aug 23, 2022 8:17 AM

The Las Vegas Raiders plan to release Kenyan Drake and absorb a $3.6 million salary-cap hit this year and $4.4 million in 2023 as a result.

Drake told the Associated Press that general manager Dave Ziegler called him personally to let him know the team was moving on.

"He let me know how they were planning on moving forward, how really uncustomary it was for him to tell me himself, and that was just a testament to the respect he has for me as a player, and as a man," the running back said.

Drake, 28, was returning from a broken right ankle suffered in Week 13 last season. He had played in all three of the Raiders' preseason games thus far.

Report: Ravens Have Offered Lamar Jackson More Than Kyler Murray Deal

Aug 22, 2022 8:56 AM

Jay Glazer reported during Sunday's Fox Sports pregame show that the Baltimore Ravens have offered Lamar Jackson more money than the Arizona Cardinals gave Kyler Murray earlier this offseason.

The report added that the five-year, fully-guaranteed contract Deshaun Watson received from the Cleveland Browns is complicating matters.

Murray's deal has a new-money average on a five-year extension of $46.1 million for seven years.

Watson's deal pays out $46 million per year over five years, all of which is fully guaranteed.

Glazer called a deal between Jackson and the Ravens an "uphill battle."

Roquan Smith Ends Hold-In, Will Play Out Season With Bears

Aug 20, 2022 8:33 PM

Roquan Smith ended his hold-in with the Chicago Bears on Saturday and participated in practice for the first time during training camp.

Smith, 25, said he plans to play out the final year of his rookie contract, where he is set to earn $9.7 million on his fifth-year option, and that negotiations are "over right now."

"I thought it was very distasteful, to say the least," Smith said of contract talks between himself and the Bears. "Wasn't what I anticipated, nor ... what I expected from the situation, but I'm grateful for the fans, all the loyal fans and everyone, the players as well in the locker room and the city of Chicago that stood behind me throughout this process. It means a lot to myself.

"But now, I'm just shifting my focus to the season and more so just focused on being the best teammate I can be to those guys in the locker room."
